I’m back from “De fortapte pikers øy”

I’m back from De fortapte pikers øy/The Island of Lost Girls. As I have mentioned before, this is a big LARP that me an Therese was hosting. The story for the larp is set to the year 1945 and World War II is over. There is finally peace and tolerance in Norway, but at the State’s Detention Camp for Women on Hovedøya in Oslo, the case is quite different. You can read more about De fortapte pikers øy here)
What can I say …. I’ve been working on this project for almost two years and now it’s over. In a way, it is very strange. I’ve often wondered if we were insane when we decided to create this larp. Now I am happy that we dared to do it. The State’s Detention Camp for Women and the treatment of these girls has been a taboo and covered with silence and secrecy for so long that it has become unknown to many. We have learned so much. It has been both painful and difficult, but I regret nothing. This is a dark part of Norwegian history and it deserves attention!
I have to thank all the people who believed in us and made this an unforgettable week. Thanks to all the great players. This would not have been possible without you! Every single one of you brought something special to the larp and I am so grateful.
I feel that I should write something more, something smart. I don’t know…. My head is so full of impressions and feelings. I am very emotional and touched by thinking about it. Now I´m starting to cry so I think I need to get back to you with some more later.. All you players have been so wonderful that I have no words for it.
Here are some pictures I took during the week.

I want to thank you for making me join in on the larp! It was a rough week, and an emotional rollercoaster, but I wouldn’t be without it. I’m still not quite my self, and many thoughts and emotions are still being processed. This was an experience I won’t forget in a long time
I I just want to say that I very much admire the work that you have done pulling off a larp like this carrying with really strong and important themes.
We can create larps about all sorts of issues and with theme little or great importance. Some larps just for fun as well as this when sharing a story about a dark past.
As I did not myself partake, I am relying on sources who attended in what I know. But regardless of how it all went, you followed your vision in creating something that you yourselves thought was truly important.
Great work!
Thanks for publishing the pictures!
