Pin curls looks great and wil give you the ultimat vitagelook. The pin curls are sett in weet hair and derfor gives long lasting curls and sice it is done without cemicals its healthy for your hair as wel. This is a simple tutorial showing how I do it. Pin curls first became popular in the 1920s, but they have changed both in style and technique scine then. In the 20s girls formd the curls with bobby pins and then used spit to get the desired effect. This is called a spit curl and is a sett of curls that is pressed flat on the side of the head, and glued down with saliva. The spit cur was popular through the 1930′s but at the end of the decade the style started to change. Girls stoped to press the curls flat and insted twisted the the curls uppwards from the head. This resulted in much fluffyer and softer looking curls. This was the start of the pin curl as we know it. In the 40s and 50s the pin curl become ekstremly popular and formed the base for most styles.

First, use a rat-tail comb to section your hair into four square sections. One part on the top of the scalp, over the ears and in the back of your head.
Grab  a about a one-inch section of hair. Wrap the hair once around two fingers ( for more curls use one finger) slip the curl off the two fingers.

Hold the hair tightly between of your thumb and index finger. Roll the curl al the way up to your scalp and lay the curl flat on to your head. Its important that you dont twist the hair when roling and lay al the curls in the same same direction.

Use a pin curl pins to secure the curl to your head. Try to line up the curls in even rows around your head. I recomend to sleep with your curls to allow the hair to sett completly. Remember, the longer you lett your hair stay pinned , the better the result wil be. Wrap a scarf around your head to avoid friction to the hair or that the curls fal out.

I like to do my make-up before I do the rest of the hair. Take out the pins.

Take one curl and brush it gently agains the palm of your hand. Mold the cul in place with your hand and continue doing this to al the curls.
Use hair spray when you are done.
